Arts Awards & Musical Theatre Exams
We’re absolutely delighted to be offering our young people the opportunity to take part in both Arts Awards and graded Musical Theatre exams — and even more proud to now be a registered exam centre with Trinity College London.
These opportunities are designed to feel natural, supportive, and genuinely rewarding — not pressured or overwhelming. They build directly on the work our students are already doing each week in class, helping them recognise their progress, celebrate their creativity, and grow in confidence.
Arts Award: Discover & Explore
Our students will work through the Discover and Explore levels of Arts Award, guided step by step in a relaxed and encouraging environment, before being able to advance to the Bronze through Gold awards.
Discover is all about:
- Taking part in creative activities
- Learning about an artist or organisation
- Sharing their thoughts and experiences
Explore takes things a little further:
- Trying more than one art form
- Creating their own work
- Building the confidence to share it with others
What makes these awards so special is how naturally they fit into what we already do. The young people are already engaging, creating, and expressing themselves — this simply gives them the chance to recognise it, reflect on it, and feel proud of their achievements.
Musical Theatre Exams
Alongside Arts Awards, we are offering the option to work towards a Musical Theatre exam through Trinity College London, starting with the level 1 moving through to 8
For Level 1 this includes:
- Performing a song from memory
- Presenting either a short sequence or monologue
- Taking part in a relaxed discussion about their performance, preparation, and character
These entry level exams are designed to feel like a conversation rather than a test — giving students the chance to express themselves, reflect on their work, and build real confidence in their abilities.
With a bit of focus and support, we truly believe many of our students are capable of achieving excellent results. For those who are ready, it’s a fantastic next step and a meaningful milestone in their creative journey.
